Chemical transfer may create static electricity depending on the fluid and process. The embedded copper wire is a construction feature, but bonding, grounding and continuity requirements must be defined by the site risk assessment.
Test the Complete Assembly Where Required
If electrical continuity is required, confirm how the wire is terminated at both fittings and test the completed assembly using the specified method and acceptance criteria. Do not assume continuity from hose appearance alone.
End Connections and Installation:
Confirm hose bore, overall length, fitting or flange standard, material, sealing method and orientation. Every fitting and seal must be compatible with the chemical. Route the hose with adequate bend radius and support, away from sharp edges, crushing loads and excessive heat.
Inspection and Safe Handling
Before handling, stop the transfer, isolate the system, release trapped pressure and drain or decontaminate according to the chemical SDS and site procedure. Use the required personal protective equipment and trained personnel.
Remove the assembly from service if it shows swelling, softening, hardening, blistering, cracks, exposed reinforcement, leakage, damaged fittings or unusual discolouration. Do not improvise repairs on a chemical hose.
