Camlock Part DP Overview
Camlock Part DP is a dust plug used to close a compatible female camlock coupler when a hose or pipeline connection is not in use. It helps protect the open connection from dirt and debris. The exact size, material, mating series, gasket arrangement and pressure conditions must be confirmed before selection.
Published Material and Size Options
- Listed materials: Stainless Steel 316, brass, aluminium and polypropylene.
- Published size range: 1/2 inch to 6 inches.
- Published maximum operating pressure: 150 psi, subject to verification for the exact material, size, manufacturer and configuration.
What Part DP Is Designed to Do
A Part DP plug mates with a compatible camlock coupler and is commonly used as a protective closure during storage, transport or idle periods. It does not by itself prove that a line is safely isolated or depressurised.
Confirm the Mating Coupler
Provide the manufacturer, series, nominal size and material of the female coupler. Similar-looking camlock components may differ in dimensions, tolerances or service rating and should not be forced together.
Understanding the Published 150 PSI Reference
The 150 psi value is a published product reference, not a universal rating for every Part DP option. Allowable pressure can vary with material, size, temperature, wear, gasket, locking condition and manufacturer data.
Do Not Use a Dust Plug as Primary Isolation
A dust plug should not be relied upon to contain trapped hazardous pressure unless the exact assembly is specifically rated and the system has independent verified isolation. Depressurise and drain the line before opening or fitting the plug.
Material and Media Compatibility
Select stainless steel 316, brass, aluminium or polypropylene only after reviewing the transferred media, cleaning chemical, temperature, external atmosphere and possible galvanic interaction. Material name alone does not confirm compatibility with every fluid.
Gasket, Cam Arms and Locking Condition
Confirm whether a gasket is required for the intended configuration and verify its material. Inspect the female coupler’s cam arms, pins, locking features and sealing surface; the plug cannot compensate for worn or damaged mating parts.
Secure Both Cam Arms Correctly
Both arms should close evenly without excessive force and any site-required safety clips or locking devices should be applied. Do not hammer the arms or modify the plug to make an incorrect size fit.
Inspection and Safe Handling
Before installation, isolate the system, release trapped pressure and control residual liquid according to the site procedure and SDS. Inspect the plug for cracks, deformation, corrosion, damaged sealing surfaces or excessive wear. Replace suspect components rather than attempting an improvised repair.
