Camlock Part D Overview
Camlock Part D is commonly configured with a female camlock coupler and a female threaded connection. It connects a compatible male camlock adapter to threaded equipment or pipework. Confirm the thread standard, camlock series, size, material, gasket, media and pressure before selection.
Published Material, Size and Pressure Options
- Materials: Stainless Steel 316, brass, aluminium and polypropylene.
- Size range: 1/2 inch to 6 inches.
- Published maximum operating pressure: 150 psi, subject to the exact size, material, temperature, manufacturer and configuration.
Confirm the Female Thread Standard
Thread form, pitch, taper, nominal size and sealing method must match the equipment. Do not identify BSP, NPT or another standard by appearance alone.
Use Compatible Thread Sealing
Tape, compound or gasket must suit the media and temperature and must not contaminate the flow path. Avoid over-tightening that could damage the thread or coupling body.
Confirm the Camlock Mating Adapter
Provide the manufacturer, series, nominal size and material of the male adapter. Similar-looking parts may differ in dimensions, tolerances or service rating.
Check Both Cam Arms
Both arms should close evenly without excessive force. Do not hammer the arms or modify either component to make an incorrect match fit.
Material and Gasket Compatibility
Select body and gasket materials only after reviewing the fluid or gas, concentration, additives, cleaning chemicals, temperature and external atmosphere. Material name alone does not confirm compatibility.
Understanding the 150 PSI Reference
The published 150 psi value is not universal. Allowable pressure may vary with size, material, temperature, thread engagement, gasket, mating adapter and manufacturer data.
The Lowest-Rated Component Governs
The assembly is limited by its lowest-rated Part D, adapter, pipe, hose, gasket, valve or threaded component.
Installation and Inspection
Inspect threads, cam arms, pins, gasket and sealing surfaces for damage, dirt, corrosion or wear. Support connected pipework or hose to avoid bending and torsional loads. Isolate and depressurise before handling.
